About This Course

This course serves as a survey of topics taught in an introductory Precalculus class, closely aligning with the College Board AP Precalculus curriculum. Prior knowledge of Algebra and Trigonometry is strongly recommended for this course. Students will strengthen their skills in algebra, trigonometry, and analytic geometry. Topics include functions, equations, graphs, and an introduction to limits. The course emphasizes problem-solving and builds a foundation for advanced math and science courses. The textbook used for this course will be James Stewart Precalculus Mathematics for Calculus Fifth Edition. Your instructor will be Rex Ouyang, a Simulations Electrical Engineer at Formula Electric at Berkeley and a rising sophomore at UC Berkeley, studying Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science. Rex has taken Multivariable Calculus, Abstract Linear Algebra, Real/Complex Analysis, and Convex Optimization through UC Berkeley’s Mathematics and Computer Science offerings. He has a strong interest in applying computation to problems in the mathematical and physical sciences.
